My goal is to publish new posts twice a week — Mondays and Thursdays. However, if you don’t see a new post on Thursday, it’s because I was too busy, so please look for a new one the following Monday.
Cottone Auctions held a Fine Art & Antiques sale on March 29, 2014, with stellar results. The offerings were eclectic, so I’ll only cover the lamps.
Top lot of the lamps went to #248, a Tiffany Studios 20″ Daffodil table lamp, estimated at $35,000 – $45,000. It sold for $49,500, near the high estimate, including the buyer’s premium.
A Tiffany Studios Favrile glass table lamp brought a strong price. It had a pretty 10″ King Tut decorated shade on a very simple base. Estimated to sell for $5,000 – $8,000, it easily exceeded its high estimate to sell for $12,400. My guess is that someone wanted the shade for a better base, perhaps a floor lamp.
A nice Handel boudoir lamp with jungle birds sold for a strong $5,600, against a pre-sale estimate of $2,000 – $4,000.
